Restorations
Ronnie Jennings
Earle Smith Mirage Jet
Ronnie was skeptical about putting any money into this Mirage hull and he was ready to just give up and sell this boat. The reason - Its ILL handling characteristics. Every pass down the track was different from the last. "Every pass felt like it was on a CRASH pass", Ronnie says. Luckily nothing catastrophic ever happened.
Our mission at ARS was to increase the hadling capabilities and safety of this boat. Here is what we did. Upon a detailed inspection of the hull we discovered there was 3/16th" hook in the keel, and the sponsons were a 1/4" from being parallel to each other. We knew what we had to do. We set out to blueprint the bottom and reset the intake on this boat. After spending 2 long weeks straightening out the bottom, this boat is now a Real competitor. It runs consistent E T's along with possessing knife cutting reaction times. The boat has picked up an amazing 10 mph in the first 1/8th mile and 7mph in the Full 1/4 mile. All this increase while not changing anything in the motor or the hardware setup.
Ronnie tells us he feels much safer in the boat now and cannot believe what a difference having us blueprint the hull has done to make it a Quicker ET and consistent on the lights. This along with actually being able to drive the boat and not feel deathly scared!
You can check out this boat @ many of the races throughout the midwest and see how good it runs.
